First Grade - C Track

Dear Parents,

Welcome to 1st grade and what’s going to be an amazing year of learning, experiences, and achievea brand new school year!  I am looking forward to being here for your child being their teacher for the 2010-2020 school year and meeting all of you at Back to School Night this Thursday, July 11th.  I will be going over curriculum, classroom procedures, and other topics in greater detail at that time.

Your child has brought home some very important paperwork for you to complete!  Please return all completed paperwork to school with your child ASAP!!  Thank you!!

Here is some information you may need immediately to make the transition to 1st grade smooth for you and your child!

School Schedule and Dismissal

The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:10 p.m.  Students should not be on campus until morning supervision starts at 7:30, or they may eat breakfast in the cafeteria at 7:15.  School office hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Every Wednesday is an early release day with dismissal at 1:10!!

**Exceptions are the first week of school and conference week**

If your child gets hungry in the early morning times, please send a small healthy snack for their first recess.  Our first recess is at 9:45 a.m.  Please be sure your child is ready with the necessary materials on a daily basis (i.e. papers to be returned, lunch (if they bring one), notes to the teacher, and any work assigned to finish).  Your child should have a backpack to carry their homework and class/school notes.  Please put your child’s name on all of their belongings to ensure that the item(s) will be returned to them if lost.

Please be sure your child eats breakfast and is on time to school each day.  Your child will be marked late if they are not in the classroom at the time the bell rings at 7:45 am.

**At the end of the school day, I will walk students from the classroom to the dismissal area-in the front of the school, behind the double gates located by the bike rack.  Please inform any older siblings to come to the first-grade area to be picked up with their sibling there.  Do NOT leave your car unattended in the loading zone.  If you want to get out of your car, please park in a parking space, or on the street curb, and walk to the gate.

I have attached a list of supplies that are recommended for each child to have at school on a daily basis.

Your child will have a folder that will be sent home every day and must be returned to school each morning.  This folder will hold their corrected work for the week for you review and keep.  This will help keep you informed of how your child is doing in class.  This folder will also contain any flyers or information that you need to be aware of.  There will be two sections:  "Return to School" and "Keep at Home."

Classroom Standards

In order to provide students with the excellent environment they deserve, the following school rules have been developed:

Students will show PRIDE in all that they do!

Encouraging to Others

If a student chooses to follow OR not to follow these basic rules, they will lose PBIS points.  These points can be tracked via the PBIS website.

****Your child’s day starts each day with a clean slate!

****Students who have 10 PBIS points can buy Principal's Recess or Fun Friday at the end of the week!

There are many positive rewards for students and the class to earn.  I give lots of verbal praise and recognition.

Medical Issues

If your child has any medical problems or health issues that you would like me to be aware of (including food allergies), please write this information on the “First Grade Information” form.

Classroom/School Visits

All visitors must sign in at the office with their ID using the Raptor system at ALL times of the day in order to be on campus beyond the entrance or gates!!  You must supply a valid form of ID.  If you need to contact me to schedule a meeting or discuss something please contact me by email, on Class Dojo, or call the number below.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to call me at (951) 736-7737, Email= [email protected], or via Bloomz Message.
